In October of 2005, flooding again struck Central America, this time the rains
fell to the north and caused flash flooding in
Guatemala. The sudden flooding caught many off-guard and resulted in damage to
homes, infrastructure, and loss of personal
belongings.

WE
CARE IN ACTION
We
Care granted an immediate $10,000 grant in order to provide food and health
supplies to the communities in need as other aid organizations had difficulty
reaching the area to distribute aid.

In addition to the
immediate community aid provided, a census following the flood verified that
some employees sustained losses of personal property. Those employees were
given replacement items to ensure that they and their families had a dry, safe
place to sleep and the means to prepare food for themselves.

IMPACT
Immediate
assistance allowed for workers to feed their family in wake of the disaster, the
additional aid helped those workers that suffered the worst damages regain a bit
of normalcy in their households.
